It was a night of country glitz and glamour at the Killashee House Hotel in Naas last Monday night, April 16, for the annual Leinster Entertainment Awards.
Special guest Michael English, a native of south Kildare, sang on the night. He duetted with Newbridge man Pierce O’Donnell on a rendition of ‘Walking The Streets In The Rain’, Ireland’s first Eurovision entry, which was co-written by Pierce’s mother Teresa Conlon.
Nashville’s Georgette Jones was also a surprise visitor on the night.
The awards night is to acknowledge the contribution to entertainment made by Leinster artists and several Hall of Fame awards were made.
The winners were nominated by members of the public, and the panel of adjudicators.
The winners included: Michael English, Foster & Allen, Derek Ryan, Conal Gallen, Trudi Lalor, Nicky Kealy, Ray Cox, Na Fianna, Declan Aungier, Matt Leavy / Paul Leavy, Patriick O’Sullivan, Zolene, Lisa Stanley, Christy McNamara, Joe Harrigan/George Prendergast/Pierce O’Donnell, Cathy McGovern, CC Cooper, Shaun Loughrey, The Davitts, Lisa McHugh, Pam Jackson and The Conquerers.
All proceeds from the night went to Rehab and the Kildare Branch of Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland.
