17 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices issued to speeding Kildare drivers

Speed enforcement checks were carried out in locations across Kildare over the June bank holiday
As part of its June Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign, Naas Roads Policing Unit conducted speed enforcement checks on the L2008 Ardclough, L2007 Ballyhays, L2002 Firmount, R408 Betaghstown and Rathcoffey, L1010 Barreen, and L2019 Burntfurse in Kildare.
A total of 17 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) were issued to drivers travelling well in excess of the legal speed limits.
Naas RPU notes one notable detection involved a driver travelling at 101 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, with an under-inflated tyre - significantly increasing the risk to all road users.
All offending drivers received:
- €160 Fixed Charge Notice
- Three Penalty Points
A garda spokesperson said: “Speeding remains one of the leading causes of serious and fatal collisions on our roads.
“Please slow down, obey speed limits, and help keep our communities safe this Bank Holiday weekend.”
