People are being warned by paramedics to refrain from taking pictures or videos of a medical emergency or crash scene

The National Ambulance Service in Ireland is urging people to put their phones away if they come across a medical emergency or accident.

The ambulance service said while it’s “natural to be curious” they ask that people “please put the phone away” and refrain from taking pictures of an emergency.

These videos or pictures can be very harmful to the people involved and their family and loved-ones if circulated online and shared with others.

“Please respect the privacy of both patients and our team,” the National Ambulance Service said.

“Instead, offer help if you can, give space to emergency responders and allow us to do our job”.

The ambulance service has received a large number of comments from people on social media on their post.

One person said: “ I will never understand this. Sweet Jesus why would you record when someone is having emergency”.

A nurse commented on the post and said: “I was at the scene of an accident last week helping (I'm a nurse). I couldn't get over the amount of people filming it, crazy carry on, what happened to human decency”.

“It's so sad that you actually have to ask this. That at someone’s worst most vulnerable moment in there lives all some people can think about is to take pictures or videos and if that's not bad enough to post it online,” another person commented.
