Cannabis-infused jellies, vapes and cigarettes worth an estimated two million euro have been seized at seven locations across four counties.

“Substantial” quantities of cannabis-infused jellies, cannabis oil-infused vapes and “reefer” cigarettes containing HHC and THC were seized, with an estimated value in excess of two million euro.

The seizures were made as part of a co-ordinated joint operation targeting a number of business premises involved in the sale of vapes.

Searches were carried out on July 2 and 8 at five business premises and two residential premises in Castlebar, Co Mayo; Drogheda, Co Louth; Longford; and Carlow.

Two men aged in their 30s were arrested in Mayo and Longford and are being detained at Garda stations in the Midlands under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The operation involved personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Customs Revenue Service and drug units based in counties Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Kildare and Drogheda.

The seized substances will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
