The event will take place in Monasterevin

A community first responder group is preparing to hold an Open Night in County Kildare.

The Order of Malta branch of Monasterevin will host the event in order to teach people how to recognise the signs of a stroke and a heart attack, and how to appropriately respond to them.

According to the group, they will have demonstrations on the night, and they have encouraged people to ask them questions.

There will also be a sign up sheet available on the night.

The Order of Malta Monasterevin’s event will take place at the town’s Market Square on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

It will begin at 7.30pm.

The official Order of Malta Ireland website explains that the original order was initially founded in Jerusalem back in the 11th Century, in order to assist ‘the vulnerable and the sick’.

The order first arrived in 1171. However, its Irish branch wasn’t established until 1938.

The Order of Malta’s Irish division is arguably best known for its Ambulance Corps.
