Their production of An Enemy of the People by Henrick Ibsen impressed adjudicator Anna Walker. Brideview Drama Group from Waterford came second with Philadelphia, Here I Come! by Brien Friel and Dalkey Drama Society’s The Mill on the Floss by Helen Edmundson took third place.
In the confined section Mullingar Theatre Lab’s production of The Lonesome West came first with The Beauty Queen of Leenane staged by Holycross/Ballycahill Drama Group coming in second. Sliabh Aughty Drama Group from Clare took third spot with Sive.
“We had the best festival attendances ever with full houses almost every night,” said committee member, Mairead Broderick.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to our audiences and all our supporters and sponsors including Kildare County Council, committee members who sold raffle tickets, looked after the refreshments, the Men’s Shed and all the volunteers who helped put up and take down the stage.”
