The 2017 GAA Awards ceremony was held at Ardclough GAA Headquarters, home of the senior hurling champions, on Saturday night last, December 2.
In a low key affair, Co. Board Chairman Ger Donnelly presented the various winners with their awards in a ceremony in which Pat Costello acted as MC for the night.
Kildare minor hurlers were the only team winners, following their success in the Leinster Minor Hurling League, a final they defeated Dublin after extra time.
The award winners were as follows:
Kildare Leinster Minor Hurling League winners - Co. Footballer of the Year: winner Kevin Feely; also nominated Eoin Doyle (Naas) and Daniel Flynn (Johnstownbridge). County Senior Hurler of the Year: winner, David Reidy (Dromin Athlacca); also nominated Paul Divilly (Confey) and Chris Bonus (Clane). Senior Club Footballer of the Year: winner, Eanna O'Connor (Moorefield); also nominated Mark Dempsey (Moorefield) and Kevin Flynn (Celbridge). Senior Club Hurler of the Year winner Paudie Ryan (Ardclough); also nominated Martin Fitzgerald (Ardclough) and Richie Ryan (Naas).
Intermediate Club Footballer of the Year: winner David Malone (Raheens); also nominated Paddy Woodgate (Raheens) and Jack Robinson (Clogherinkoe). Intermediate Club Hurler of the Year: winner Kevin Whelan (Naas), also nominated Michael Gillick (Maynooth) and Eoin Roche (Celbridge). Junior Club Footballer of the Year: winner Eoin Kavanagh (Ballymore Eustace), also nominated Jake Corrigan (Caragh) and Michael Stewart Byrne (Ballymore Eustace). Junior Club Hurler of the Year: winner, Declan O'Toole (Éire Óg Corrachoill); also nominated Dean Hanley (Broadford) and Dave Ryan (Broadford).
Handballer of the Year: winner Brendan Higginbotham (Ballymore Eustace).
