Naas soprano joins with former 'Celtic Tenor' for concert

The concert begins at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 7pm
A leading Naas soprano is returning to her home town this weekend for a special concert with a former member of The Celtic Tenors.
Norah King will join James Nelson for The Last Rose of Summer at McAuley Place on the Sallins Road in Naas this Saturday, August 29.
The concert begins at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 7pm, and will feature an evening of much-loved songs, arias and duets celebrating the end of the summer.
The pair will be accompanied on piano by Anne Cullen, while refreshments including wine, tea and coffee will be available in the McAuley Place café before the performance and during the interval.
James Nelson spent 25 years performing opera and concerts with The Celtic Tenors and, after 35 years on the road, is now living in Wicklow. He recently toured with his show Singing for his Supper, offering audiences an up-close look at his life on the road and at home.
He is now collaborating with Norah King, a Naas mezzo-soprano with an extensive international performance career.
King has performed for audiences across Europe and Asia, appearing at venues including the National Concert Hall in Dublin and Uchisaiwaicho Hall in Tokyo. She has also performed with the Shanghai Opera Orchestra, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
Her operatic work has included performances for Lismore Opera Festival, Aldeburgh Music, Lyric Opera Productions and English Touring Opera.
A graduate and alumna of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Royal Academy of Music and Cardiff International Academy of Voice, King is a former Wexford Festival Opera and Opera Theatre Company Young Artist, as well as a Concordia and Samling Artist.
She has also recently appeared in the RTÉ TV Licence campaign and previously featured in advertising campaigns for Keeling’s Fruit, FUJIFILM Instax and Google B2B.
King has a longstanding connection with the local area and previously performed a series of summer concerts, Songs at Sunset, with Nelson at Bushfield Farm, Kilkea, Castledermot.
The success of those performances prompted the pair to bring their new show to Naas for local audiences.
