THE Senior Football Championship will resume the weekend after next on August 24, 25, and 26. The second round dates of Kildare’s premier football competition were decided following a meeting of the county’s Competition Controls Committee in St Conleth’s Park last Tuesday night, writes Ruth Chambers.

The third round of the SFC will go ahead on the weekend of September 7, 8 and 9 and if replays are required for rounds two and three they will take place on the Wednesday after the original dates.

The knockout stages of the competition get underway with the quarter finals over two weekends on September 14, 15 and 16 and September 21, 22 and 23, however with the SHC semi finals fixed for Saturday, September 22 any clubs involved in both will not be fixed for the same weekend.

The penultimate round of the senior championship will take place on the weekends of September 28, 29 and 30 and October 5, 6 and 7. The final will be played in St Conleth’s Park on Sunday, October 21. The Kildare senior champions will then take on either the Offaly or Louth kingpins in Tullamore or Drogheda on November 11.

The Senior Football Championship relegation semi finals will be held on the weekend of September 7, 8 and 9 and the final will be on the weekend of September 16 or September 23 depending on the Senior Hurling Championship.

The Joe Fox Tool and Plant Hire Intermediate Football Championship will resume this coming weekend with the exception of Eadestown -v- Ballyteague; Straffan -v- Raheens and Nurney -v- Kilcullen. Those games will be played on August 24, 25 and 26. Round three is down for decision on August 31 and September 1 and 2 and if replays are required they will take place on the Wednesday after the original dates. The quarter finals will take place on September 14, 15 and 16 and the semis on September 28, 29 and 30. The final will take place in Newbridge on October 14 and the winners will meet the winners of Carlow and Kilkenny in Leinster away on November 11.

The IFC relegation semi finals are down for decision on August 31 and September 1 and 2 with that final taking place on the weekend of September 16.

The second round of the Tom Cross Junior Football Championship goes ahead this weekend, while round three goes ahead on August 24, 25 and 26. The quarter finals take place the weekend after on August August 31 and September 1 and 2, followed by the semis on the weekend of September 14, 15 and 16. The final is down for decision on the weekend of September 30 and the Kildare champions will then take on the Longford winners on October 14 at home.
