Sarsfields have regained the Leinster Leader Cup after defeating Celbridge in the Senior Football League Division 1 final in a rip-roaring game at St. Conleth’s Park, Newbridge, on Saturday evening.
Trailing by 1-5 to 0-7 at the interval (Shane Harte getting the Celbridge goal) the Newbridge upped their game considerably on the resumption and while they fell further behind to a second goal, this time from Pádraig Fitzgerald in the 47 minute, they did not panic and two goals from Declan McKenna and Robbie Confrey saw them run out winners by six points on a score line of Sarsfields 2-15 Celbridge 2-9.
Sallins took the Tom Cross SFL Division 3 title defeating Grangenolvan 0-16 to 2-4.
In the final of the Tom Cross SFL Division 3A, Celbridge got some revenge over Sarsfields, winning by two points, Celbridge 0-11 Sarsfields 0-9.
