O'Dea earns Clane a point

Leinster Leader SFL Div. 1 Clane 1-9 Round Towers 2-6 THIS game finished in dramatic style on Saturday evening with Clane clinching a draw in injury time to share the spoils with Round Towers.

Clane opened the brighter and led 4 points to 1 midway through the half. Clane struck for the opening goal of the game which saw Garvan Ware take a short free to Mark Behan, who beat his man and laid it off neatly to the inrushing Joe Gleeson to leave Clane coasting 1-4 to 0-1.

Towers stuck to their task and reeled off two points in quick succession just before the break before the in form Eddie McCormack scored a close in free to leave Clane 1-5 to 0-3 in front.

Towers hit on the counter attack and Robert O'Neill, introduced for the injured Padraig Golden, scored a great goal to bring Towers right back into contention.

The sides were level on ten minutes at 1-5 a piece before Sean O'Dea popped up to put Clane in front 1-6 to 1-5. Clane then quickly added another point from a free from Eddie McCormack before Towers came down the field and young Hopper struck again to put them 2-5 to 1-7 in front.

Towers were now in control and a great point from corner back TJ Waters seemed to seal the issue and leave them two in front entering the final five minutes.

Clane were in trouble but they rallied strongly and that man Sean O' Dea, now playing at wing forward, kicked two further points to earn them a draw on the night.

Best for Clane were Justin Hayes, Sean O' Dea and Eddie McCormack while for Towers Robert O' Neill, Barry Waters and keeper Jamie Kindregan were to the fore.

David Lyons made an appearance for Clane in the final fifteen minutes and he came through unscathed.
