Kildare overcame the challenge of a poor Cavan side with consummate ease at Kingspan Breffni Park, Cavan, this afternoon (Sunday) before an attendance of just short of 15,000, writes TOMMY CALLAGHAN.
Two first half goals from Mikey Conway and Emmet Bolton and a third from man-of-the match Alan Smith in the second half saw Kildare win on a score line of Kildare 3-20 Cavan 1-9.
Once Kildare got into their stride the difference in class was apparent while the fitness levels of Kildare were way superior than their opposition. The home crowd gave their former player, Seanie Johnston, a hostile reception when he arrived on the field of play after 62 minutes and the St. Kevin’s player knocked over an awkward free to open his account, getting Kildare’s final score of the game.
