Just like the game previous between Ardclough and Castlemitchell, this Féile C Shield football final between Ballykelly and Robertstown would turn out to be a rather one-sided affair with Ballykelly emerging victorious.

When the boys in maroon and white raced into an early lead, registering 4-5 without reply, the outcome was inevitable, writes Eoin Beatty.

Ballykelly: 5-13

Roberstown: 1-3

Robertstown were finding it difficult to keep up with the pace of Ballykelly’s free flowing movement. And began falling further and further behind.

One stand-out player for Robertstown was DJ Hogan in midfield. His courage and heart was highly admirable as he scored all of Robertstown’s 1-3.

But take nothing away from Ballykelly’s performance, as a whole as well as some outstanding individual performances from Wayne Sharpe, Chris Havens and David O’Connell.

Robertstown’s defence was constantly under severe pressure as Ballykelly broke forward at every opportunity and the end product was usually lethal.

Substitute, Jack Smyth completed the rout with a point, clipping the crossbar on its way over.

Overall, Ballykelly were worthy winners, despite the best efforts of a whole-hearted Robertstown side.

Ballykelly: Adam Lawler, James Ebbs, Cian Stafford, Liam Allen, Mark Sealey, Eoin Whelan, Daniel Allen, Bayo Oke (0-1), David O’Connell (1-2), Calvin Dunne (0-2 1f), Wayne Sharpe (0-2), Chris Havens (1-2), Josh Lawler (0-1), Dean Maher (2-0), Hayden Kemmy. Subs: James Boland (0-2) for Josh Lawler, Jack Smyth (1-1) for Dean Maher.

Robertstown: Cian Ward, PJ Ewing, Derek Jessop, Stephen Ennis, Arlo Graham, Reece Percival, Oliver Hogarty, DJ Hogan (1-3 1f), Zak Murphy, Jamie Lyons, Nathan Moran, Murray O’Byrne, Jack Murphy, Shane Tynan-Ward, Jason Butler.
