RYSTON pair Stephen Treacy and Chris Phelan, pictured left, have been named in the Ireland youth squad for two forthcoming prestigious tournaments in Germany.
The Kildare pair will represent Ireland in the Brandenburg Cup in Frankfurt from February 16 to February 22 and in a round robin event in Heidelberg from March 4 to March 8.

Both boxers will hope to impress Irish chiefs, which could ultimately lead to selection for the AIBA World Youth Champion-ships in Azerbaijan in April.

The youths will take part in another tournament in Lithuania later this month before Irish coach Jim Moore finalises his squad for the World Championships, which will act as the only qualifier for the Youth Olympics in Singapore in August.

Both Treacy and Phelan were selected for the national squad after they both claimed national youth titles last Saturday night
