Arts and Craft Fair Open Day
The Day Care Centre are holding their second Annual Arts & Craft Fair on Sunday week November 25.
On the day they will have lots of Christmas gifts, toys and decorations, all handmade, jewellery, flower arrangements, knitted hats, scarves and accessories, fascinators, crotched baby clothes, occasional cakes, Christmas cakes and puddings, breads, chutneys, Christmas logs, wood turning and lots of other craft and art items.
Last years event was a great success and with that selection of goods, this year should
be no different.
Doors will open at 11 am until 4 pm so why not go along and pick up an original gift for that special friend.
Tea coffee and goodies will also be served.
Admission and parking is free.
The CORE Group held their bi monthly meeting and AGM on Wednesday November 7 in the Community Office.
The Chairman Martin Shiel reported on a very successful year particularly the establishment by the RCAB Group of the First Responders, which is now up and running and the Defibrillator installed at the entrance to the Day Care Centre.
The Tidy Town Sub Committee won a Bronze Medal in this years competition and the Group are very hopeful that the long promised under grounding of electricity cables and new lamp standards which it is hoped will be carried out early next year will give a further boost, to our hopes in the Tidy Town Competition.
The CORE Group will once again, with the generous help of volunteers, be erecting Christmas lights and will be appealing to local business and private individuals to help with the finance.
Elected were Chair Martin Shiel, Vice Chair, Shane Ryan, Secretary Angus O’Dowd, Treasurer Sean Murray and PRO Debbie O’Rourke.
The next meeting will be Wednesday January 23 2013 at 8pm in the Community Office and as always every member of the community is welcome to attend.
Community Centre Fund Raising
The fund-raising to raise the matching funds for the Community Centre re-development project is going very well according to the Chairman, Paddy O’Loughlin.
He said that the Committee wanted to sincerely thank all those who supported the October Fest which raised approximately a €1,000 after expenses.
Paddy also wanted to thank the proprietors of ‘Next Door’ who sponsored the event.
The “Local Voices “ concert in the Church of Ireland was also well attended and he hoped that the pub quiz on Thursday 15 in Fulhams would be supported as well.
He also wanted to thank the Horse Shoe Throwers club who ran a league and donated a €100 to the project.
Paddy said that events like this demonstrated the generosity of the Rathangan Community and its support for the project.
Any group who would like to organise a similar type fundraiser would be warmly supported by the Committee.
Rathangan GAA AGM
Rathangan GAA will hold its AGM on Friday 30 November at 8pm.
All motions for the AGM must be submitted in writing to the club secretary by 5pm on Friday 16th November.

Niemann-Pick Disease Fund Raiser
The organisers of the Pub Quiz in aid of the Niemann-Pick Disease Support Group would like to thank everybody who supported the event on the 19 October.
It was a very successful event with €1,795 raised.
Kristmas Kooking for KARE
KARE are holding a fund raising event with a difference on tomorrow night Wednesday 14 November at Ryston Social Club Newbridge, titled ‘Kristmas Kooking for KARE which will feature cookery demonstrations with special Guest RTE personality Brenda Donoghue.
