Local Notes - KILCULLEN

Terri does it again

Another one pound loss for Terri Reade shows that all her hard work is paying off. On Saturday Terri set off leading the inaugural Kilcullen walking group. More than 50 people turned up to support her on a refreshing 4km walk. Eurospar in Kilcullen came out in support too by supplying bottles of water and freebies for all participants. Terri was so pleased with the turnout that she says it’s now a permanent date in the diary. So anyone wishing to come for a walk every Saturday, meet at 3pm in the Eurospar car park in Kilcullen.

New honesty box hours – we have plenty of hen and duck eggs in the honesty box and the price is €2.50/half dozen or €5/dozen. Unfortunately due to more frequent theft of honesty money and eggs we regret that the honesty box will only now operate during daylight hours. Please bring exact change because there is rarely change in the honesty box. My mobile is 087 6785269 if you need eggs in the late evening.

Starter plot (5mx7m): €125 – Our starter plot is the perfect size for beginners or people that don’t want to take on too much. The plot will be ploughed, rotovated and ready for sowing.

Double plot (10mx7m): €200 – Ideal for the people who want a bit more of a challenge and have a little bit more time to tend to their plot.

Treble plot (15mx7m): €250 – For the more advanced grower or someone who wants to put time into producing a lot of their own produce for the year.

Request for volunteers

Kilcullen parish youth club or KiYC need volunteers. We are URGENTLY looking for volunteers to help us for two to four hours per week once a month on either a Thursday or Friday evening. We need volunteers to continue, at our present numbers we cannot keep going. We will be unable to have Easter and Summer Camps if more volunteers are not found as soon as possible, training is provided. So if you are interested or know of someone 18+ who would be willing to help, please contact us on 0894484114.

Gathering of parish workers

Hundreds of parish workers were invited by the parish council to come along and not only meet their fellow parishioners but also share their thoughts on “what can the parish do”. The evening organised by Adrienne (secretary from Scoil Bhride) was a great success, really highlighting that Kilcullen parish is greater than the sum of all its parts. I think many of the attendees were surprised by how many different groups and sub-sections there are that quietly go about their business and ensure that the parish and its spiritual needs are met.

125 years of CPC

Were you at Cross and Passion College over the last 125 years? There are some parents of current students who are past pupils of our school. We invite such people to contribute memories and pictures in advance of our 125th celebration which will take place in the school on Friday 1 February at 7pm.

If you have a story, a memory a photograph and you would like to contribute it to this unique event then email denisdennehy@cpckilcullen.com.

There are a number of options but the main thing is to tell us what you have that you would make available to us and we can tell you what we have in mind for it. For more information, visit the school website: cpckilcullen.com
