THE LATE ANNE GORMAN

The community were saddened when news of the death of Anne Gorman (nee Gavin) was announced, late of Blackhall, Calverstown and formerly of Woods, Midfield, Co. Mayo. She was pre-deceased by husband Patrick and son Pat. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar, Dublin. In her 90th year, Anne was a very popular lady in the community who came from the West of Ireland to Calverstown in 1956, and was the youngest of the original families that came to the area to farm in that period. A great family lady, an avid card player, and went to every whist and card game far and near always accompanied by daughter Mary. The very large attendance at her Funeral Mass and burial was a tribute to the high esteem she was held in the community. Anne reposed at her daughter Eileen’s residence Blackhall on Saturday, and Rev. Fr. Frank McEvoy PP received her remains into the Church of SS Mary & Laurence, Crookstown on Sunday afternoon for 2pm Requiem Mass followed by interment in adjoining Cemetery.

Condolences to Anne’s children Mary, Tom, Christina, Nancy, Tony, Michael, Margaret, Eileen, Noreen and Siobhan, their partners, 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sisters Winnie and Judy, neices, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends. May her gentle soul rest in Peace.
