Milltown GFC Congratulates Aoife Malone
Congratulations to Aoife Malone, who has been named as one of the 20 winners of a Pramerican Spirit of Community awards. Aoife is granddaughter of another of our stalwarts of the club Seamus Field. Aoife receives this award for her volunteerism with the Jumping Jelly Beans and in school. She was nominated by her school. We meet Cappagh, Rathcoffey and Rheban in the Dowling cup, first game 16th February. It would be a great start in our 125th year to win the Dowling Cup. This cup was presented to the County Board by the Dowling Family in memory of one of our great officers and footballer, Tommy Dowling. The Under- age section held it’s A.G.M. recently,at it, Jim Byrne was elected Chairman, Treasurer Denis Curran, Register Paul Donoghue, Bord Na n OG and South Board delegate Pat O Connell. The Club sincerely thank Sean Mulpeter and Sky High Bouncing for his generous sponsorship of a new set of jerseys for our senior team. Please support our sponsors. The local Lotto wasn’t won this week and it is now at €2700. Tickets can be purchased in David’s shop or down at the club every Monday night.

First Team training with trainer Mark Shaw continues. Selectors for the coming year are Mike Thorpe, Martin Mullins. Junior Team selectors Brian Hyland, Lesley Thorpe and Fergus Jacob. Ballyteague have joined Allenwood to form a new Underage Club called Aylmer Gaels, fielding teams from U14 up to U21. The Minor team play Robertstown in the first round of Div 3 of the league this Sunday morning in Allenwood at 11.45. All support welcome. Keogh Cup first round Sat 16th Ballyteague away to Kilcullen. Gum Shields are now compulsory for all players from underage to senior level for training as well as matches. They can be purchased from Marie Jacob for €3.00. Players will not be allowed to train or play without the Gum Shield, this is a rule from Croke Park.
It is advisable that players would have more than 1 Gum Shield. Membership is now due. Player €50, Single €30, Couple €50, Student/OAP €20, Juvenile €10, Family €70. The Senior squad are having a fundraiser to raise some funds. A quiz, with lots of prizes to be won. The cost is €40.00 per team of four. Members and non-members alike all welcome to join in what promises to be a great night in the club. It takes place in Allenwood gfc clubhouse, Saturday February 16th at 8.00pm. Best of luck to all in the Aldridge Cup and also to our Minors playing with Aylmer Gaels in the Minor League. Sunday April 14th is the date set for The Jog Through The Bog. This was a very successful club day out last year. Further details will follow. Ladies Bootcamp Friday March 22nd in Allenwood Gaa 7pm to 8pm €50 for 8 nights or €8.00 per night. Training will be resuming shortly it will be Friday nights 7pm to 8pm. Please note all players to wear gum shields; it is now compulsory for training and matches. Gum shields may be purchased in the club from Sadie Moran or Joyce Byrne for a cost of €7.00. Underage discos February 22nd and March 22nd. Scor Sinsear takes place in Allenwood Gaa March 3rd. Bingo in Allenwood every Wednesday. All welcome.

Night at the Dogs in aid of Kildare Down syndrome
The Kildare branch of Down syndrome Ireland is having a fundraising night at the dogs at Newbridge Greyhound Track on Saturday 16th February 2013. Only tickets bought beforehand can benefit the charity. Tickets cost €10 each or €20 for a family and up to four children. Dining packages are also available at a cost of €40 per head. It is a family focused evening with face painting, bucking bronco, sumo wrestling, auction and a raffle.
Chernobyl Table Quiz
A table quiz will take place in Woodlands golf club on Friday 22nd February at 9.00pm. A table of four is €40 with light refreshments being served on the night.
