Caragh soprano Celine Byrne will stage a Christmas gala show at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin.
The ‘Home For Christmas’ show will see the internationally-acclaimed singer returning to the Irish stage after concerts in Russia and China. She also recently performed La Boheme with the Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow and sang with Andrea Bocelli, both concerts at the Bord Gais theatre in Dublin Dublin.
And, of course, she wowed the home crowds in Naas recently when she performed at the turning on of the town’s Christmas lights on Saturday, November 27.
At the Christmas gala, she will perform popular songs from the world of opera and operetta such as O Mio Babbino Caro, Un Bel Di from Madame Butterfly and Villia from The Merry Widow along with festive favourites such as the haunting In The Bleak Mid-Winter, O Holy Night and White Christmas.She will be joined on stage by her festive orchestra conducted by David Brophy.
“This has been a fantastic year for me,” says Celine, “From performing in the Royal Albert Hall, London to Huguang Guild Hall, Beijing, home to Ireland to sing in RTÉ’s wonderful Centenary TV concert and all the while receiving great reviews for my opera roles. But I am so looking forward to this Home for Christmas Show at the Bord Gais on December 18. I know that conductor David Brophy will bring out the very best in me and the orchestra and it will be the perfect night to start everyone’s Christmas week.”
