Republic of Ireland Ladies International soccer manager Sue Ronan was the special guest at the presentation evening of Prosperous United Girls, having travelled from Donegal to be present for the event, in appreciation to the management for their efforts into promoting soccer for girls in Kildare.
The famed Eamon Darcy, Laura Cusack and Pat Behan, FAI Development officers for Kildare were also in attendance.
Sue, Pat and Laura presented all with the medals and awards and have all promised that they will be in attendance at some of the club’s games in the upcoming season.
Prosperous Girls participate with a number of other Clubs from Kildare in the Metropolitan Girls League Dublin, (MGL) which is the biggest League for promoting Girls Soccer in Ireland, and are also the current holders of the all Ireland Gaynor Cup Competition, in which a number of girls from Kildare are part of the successful squad.
The club had a number of girls make it into the League Academy, and the highlight for them was the match v Arsenal a few months ago.
This was the first year in which the under 15 & under 13 teams participated in Dublin and whilst the U/15 had a slow start, towards the end of the season, they had made great improvement.
The U13s had a great season, and having played some of the well established teams in Dublin they topped their Division A. league
Any club interested in playing in the MGL Dublin League can check out the web site for further information.
