Annie Capell from San Francisco is cycling to bogs around Ireland to raise awareness about peatland conservation and to raise funds for the IPCCs Save the Bogs Campaign in a challenge titled Pedal for Peats Sake.

An American woman started a month long cycling challenge last Thursday, September 20, pedalling from Dublin to the Irish Peatland Conservation Council (IPCC) headquarters in the Bog of Allen Nature Centre in Lullymore, Rathangan.

Annie Capell from San Francisco, California will spend the next few weeks cycling to bogs around Ireland to raise awareness about peatland conservation and to raise funds for the IPCC’s Save the Bogs Campaign in a challenge titled ‘Pedal for Peat’s Sake’.

According to Ms. Capell’s blog, as she neared the nature centre, staff came out to cheer her name.

She was given a tour of the centre and spent a short time there before cycling to Monasterevin, where she spent the night.

Ms Capell plans to visit as many bogs as she can manage over the next month.
