AROUND 5,000 customers in total, with accounts in the Kildare town and Kilcock branches of Allied Irish Banks, will be affected by the move to close down those branches, a bank spokesperson has told the Leader, writes Henry Bauress.

The accounts will be moved to Newbridge and Maynooth respectively.

Two full time posts in Kildare town branch and eight in the Kilcock branch will be affected but there will be no compulsory redundancies as staff and the business involved will moved to the new branches.
