The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has taken action against a Kildare food business.

On 7 August, it said nine Closure Orders were served on food businesses during July for breaches of food safety legislation, including one on the Blueberry Restaurant,at Broadford, Moyvalley.

The order was made by on 29 July.

The FSAI issues a closure order if in the opinion of the authorised officer, there is or there is likely to be “a grave and immediate danger to public health at/or in the food premises.”

Closures Orders can refer to the immediate closure of all or part of the food premises, or all or some of its activities.

The FSAI said in the Blueberry case, the entire premises was closed.

A spokesperson said orders may be lifted when the premises has improved to the satisfaction of the authorised officer.

The Leader was unable to contact the Blueberry Restaurant or owner, George Pun, at the time of writing.

An 1 August message on its website said it was “closed until further notice due to issues with the water system.
