New plant plans for Leixlip Intel site

INTEL Ireland has sought planning permission for a new manufacturing facility beside the its current buildings in Leixlip.

INTEL Ireland has sought planning permission for a new manufacturing facility beside the its current buildings in Leixlip.

It is seeking a 10 year planning permission including a manufacturing buildings with total gross floor area of 162,536 sq.m, and a multi storey car park accommodating 2,200 cars.

The application comes at the time when news emerged of a new range of Intel chip products being produced in Ireland in current plants.

A chemical store and other works are included.

Road wise, the permission being sought also includes new internal road layouts throughout and modifications to the west side main vehicular entrance together with modifications to the R148 road.

The Kildare County Council online file said the the application consists of a variation to a previously permitted development for an activity for which a licence under Part IV of the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 (as amended for the Protection of the Environment Act 2003) is required and full details of the proposed development and its anticipated environmental impacts will be notified to the Environmental Protection Agency.

An Environmental Impact Statement and a Natura. Impact Statement accompany this application, and they will be available for inspection or purchase at the office of the planning authority.
