SPAR Express, at Junction 14 Mayfield, outside Monasterevin, was announced the Best New Format C-Store at the national ShelfLife C-Store Awards 2011, held before Christmas.

SPAR Express Mayfield is an independently owned motorway service area that is the culmination of eight years work and a €7 million investment owners Donal and Liam Fitzpatrick. Along with the Texaco service station, the site also boasts Insomnia coffee, Supermacs and e-Car charge points.

Congratulating the store on the award, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director BWG Foods (operators of SPAR in Ireland) said: “It is confirmation of the pride they take in their store and how well they understand their customers. The store is very deserving of this industry accolade and they should take pride in displaying it alongside their other awards.”
