Naas gaming arcade plan rejected

An attempt to secure planning permission for a gaming arcade in Naas town centre has failed.

An attempt to secure planning permission for a gaming arcade in Naas town centre has failed.

Coalquay Leisure Ltd., with an address at Ballincollig, Co. Cork, applied for retention of a change of use of a ground floor retail unit to a gaming arcade at Fairgreen Street, Naas.

The company directors have an address at Cornmarket, Cork, and the newspaper planning notice was published in the Irish Examiner.

The property owners are listed as Paul and Mary Ferris.

The plan was rejected by Naas Town Council because it felt that a gaming arcade is not appropriate, would detract from the streetscape and may have resulted in a loss of retail use in the town centre.

The council also contended that the application would run contrary to promoting the town centre as a quality environment for planning, working and visitors.
