KILDARE County Council has denied it has plans to employ debt collection agencies in the new year, writes Henry Bauress.

However, householders who owe money to the council were unofficially told that the cash strapped council would be hiring debt collectors in 2012, the Leinster Leader understands.

But on Monday afternoon, Council spokesperson, Annette Aspell, said there were no such plans.

The Leinster Leader understands that KCC recently sent out warning letters to homeowners/builders who had not paid their development levies indicating they could be liable for legal or court costs.

Letters were sent to families across the county who built one-off homes during the boom time.
