Hookers are still for hire in Sallins

PAID-for sex was still available at a Sallins apartment complex last weekend – three days after the issue was aired on national television.

A woman answering to the name of Gabriella was contacted by the Leinster Leader via a mobile phone listed on the Escort Ireland website.

She told this reporter that prices for sex started at €50 for a “quick service” and “full sex” was also available.

She gave directions to The Waterways apartment complex referencing the location in relation to both the train station and the Super Valu store.

The Leader was also told to arrive about 20 minutes before 8pm and then to call her again.

The Waterways was one of a number of locations highlighted in last week’s RTE Prime Time programme about prostitution in Ireland. Most of the apartments there are rented out, but while one Dublin-based owner told the Leader he was unaware of the area being used for prostitution, others were not surprised.

A woman with links to the development said: “I’m aware of it (prostitution). It’s not news to me but people don’t want to talk about it and I don’t want to talk for others. The apartment used for this is probably rented out. People are also reluctant to talk because of the problems with flooding, which have been sorted out.”

The complex first hit the national headlines when it was subjected to severe flooding in December 2010.

Another apartment owner told the Leader the gardai were watching an address there some time ago.

“Apparently they could not get enough to prosecute anybody and at a minimum they needed to see multiple visits.

“Nobody wants it here but little can be done because there is a high degree of mobility attached to the enterprise. It’s not unique to The Waterways, there is at least one other location in Sallins, never mind elsewhere.”

On Friday evening last, the website listed about two dozen escorts operating within County Kildare. Many failed to answer a call including a Victoria Ferraz whose profile included a request for clients to “book your time” adding “I’m in Sallins for a few days. Only for men fine, elegant, gentle, polite (sic).”

At least two women were working in Naas on Friday evening. “Pietra” was charging €80 for sex and told the Leader to go an address at the Church Court apartments on Craddockstown Road and ring again on arrival.

A second woman, “Caty”, charged €100 for 30 minutes and €200 for 60 minutes and was also operating from an address at Craddockstown Road at 1am on Saturday last (February 11). Three, maybe more, escorts were available for sex in Athy at the same time.
