TEN jobs have been lost following the closure last week of the Clery’s home furnishings store at the Globe Retail Park, Monread Road, Naas.
The shut down took place on Tuesday last as a firm of liquidators was appointed at the request of company directors.
The appointment was made after a decision was taken that the store along with a similar outlet in Leopardstown and Guineys at Talbot Street, Dublin, were no longer economically viable.
All three stores closed on Tuesday last and a total of 29 employees based at these stores are to be made redundant. The provisional liquidator will contact employees directly to process their statutory entitlements.
Denis Guiney Furnishings Ltd recently closed its Blanchardstown store.
There was better news for the 350 employees of the Clerys department store at O’Connell Street, Dublin. The owning company has been taken over by a US concern and the store will continue to trade as normal.
Clery’s lost €2m in the 2011 financial year.
