NORTH KILDARE Chamber says it will regroup to work towards a county-wide chamber following the resignation of its president last Thursday, 28 November.
At a meeting of its Board last Thursday, President, Eilis Quinlan announced she would resign from the Board and as president, “with immediate effect.”
Recently Ms. Quinlan, a Naas-based accountant, said she was disappointed with the decision of the North Kildare Chamber not to merge with Newbridge to form a county-wide body.
In a statement, North Kildare Chamber of Commerce said that Vice-President Len Regan would take over as Acting President until the AGM in January.
“The committee and board would like to thank Ms Quinlan for her valuable work with the Chamber over the last number of years and wish her all the best in the future.”
Ms. Quinlan, who has been involved in Chamber activities in Naas since the 1990s, told the Leader: “I was flooded with good wishes which is very heartening.”
North Kildare Chamber spokesperson Leo Nulty said the committee and board look forward “to continuing to service its growing membership ahead of the AGM on 16 January 2014.
He said there will be renewed efforts by the Chamber to work towards county chamber but that it will take time.
