Landscape company's free tree offer

A Maynooth company, SAP Landscapes, is teaming up with a Waterford business to donate fruit trees which will see a hundred orchards simultaneously planted across the country on November 26 to mark Ireland’s 1916 centenary celebrations.

Schools, community groups and workplaces from across the country can now  apply for a free ‘Orchard in an Hour’ pack.

The pack, from Waterford based, GIY, and SAP Landscapes contains a selection of five  apple, pear and plum trees.

The plans is that on Saturday, November 26, all of the a hundred groups will plant their orchards simultaneously across Ireland.

The first hundred communities to register for ‘Orchard In An Hour’ on www.giyinternational.org will receive delivery of an orchard pack.

The scheme is to mark the 1916 centenary celebrations and SAP’s 40th anniversary.

SAP now employs over 175 staff from its head office in Maynooth.  Its awards include that  for best grounds maintenance for its work in Kildare Village and for a garden created in the grounds of Carton House.
