Last chance to see Marilyn Monroe dress at Newbridge Silverware

The iconic dress on display in Newbridge

If you want to see the dress worn by movie icon, Marilyn Monroe when she sang “Happy Birthday” to president John F Kennedy in in 1962, this is your last chance.

The glittering body skimming elegant number is on display at Newbridge Silverware’s Museum of Style Icons until this Sunday, November 6.

The dress, which arrived in Ireland by private jet in October, will be auctioned this month, and its appearance in Kildare will be the only public viewing in Europe.

The Happy Birthday Mr President Dress cost Monroe $1,500 at the time - a sizeable sum in 1962, according to Newbridge Silverware. The dress has never traveled outside of the US before and may never again.
