Overcrowding eases at Naas Hospital

Naas General Hospital

There were just 6 patients being treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital yesterday. This is despite an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug, which  earlier this week led to management at the hospital urging visitors to stay away temporarily.

The figure is the second best of any hospital in the greater Dublin area. At the other end of the spectrum there are 22 patients without a bed at Tallaght Hospital.

Figures compiled by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisaton indicate there were a total of 412 patients awaiting admisson at hospitals around Ireland, including 13 at the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
