Fourteen thousand people came to the Curragh Racecourse last Saturday night (August 13) for the Relay for Life Candle of Hope ceremony.

Over 8,000 candles were lit in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. The annual 24-hour event also honours cancer survivors and those battling the disease, as well as raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

See this week's Leinster Leader for coverage of this amazing event. Patrick and Kristine Maher, Ballyteague are pictured lighting a candle at this year's ceremony.
