More than 20 garda have been assigned to the investigation

A woman who was robbed after she took out a substantial amount of cash from the ATM machine in the Dunnes Stores Shopping Centre in Newbrige on Thursday, April 26 was left traumatised by the incident, writes Paula Campbell.

According to Newbridge Gardai a passer-by who saw the ordeal at 1.10pm took off on foot after the robber who ran down the lane way behind the shopping centre towards Pairc Mhuire. A knife was pulled on him in the lane, and he was forced to stop.

The robber is described as heavy build, wearing a blue woolly cap and grey tracksuit bottoms. He also has a tattoo on the right hand side of his neck.

“We will be looking at the CCTV footage,” said Sgt Seamus Rothwell of Newbridge Garda Station. “He is in his mid to late 20s and of average height.”
