RUGBY star, Trevor Brennan, will lead the Kildare way in calling Leixlip natives home when he appears in a brand new primetime television series “The Gathering – Homeward Bound” this October.

One of six well known Irish people in the series, he will join Brendan Grace, Jean Butler, Bressie, Tadhg Kennelly and actress, Fionnula Flanagan.

The Leixlip Brennan episode will be shown on Tuesday, 16 October.

The series is being run in conjunction with The Gathering Ireland 2013.

One of Ireland’s best-known rugby personalities, Trevor Brennan, who played for Barnhall, St. Mary’s, Toulouse and Ireland in his career is a regular visitor the the north Kildare town, where his family and that of his wife, Paula, live.

He will be inviting Kildare and Leixlip’s diaspora back to Ireland as part of The Gathering Ireland 2013.

Following retirement from professional rugby in 2007, Trevor and his family have lived in Toulouse where he owns and runs the busy De Danú Irish Bar in the south of France.

The bar is well to known to man rugby fans, particularly to a the many members of his home club, NUIM Barnhall, who regularly fly to Toulouse to watch and play matches.

Another footballer featured is Kerry GAA and Aussie Rules football star Tadhg Kennelly who returns to his home town of Listowel. At 17 he moved to Sydney as an AFL players with the Sydney Swans.

The series starts today, Tuesday 2 October at 7.00pm and is also available to audiences worldwide on the RTÉ Player at www.rte.ie/player.
