Athy woman Anna May McHugh has been choosen as the 2013 recipient of the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award. Anna May, who is the managing director of the National Ploughing Association, is the 18th recipient of the award in Ireland.

The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award has recognised and rewarded women around the world, who have succeeded in the business world and who personify the characteriostics of Madame Clicquot, the founder of the great Veuve Clicquot champagne house.

Accepting the award, Anna May said: “I am so delighted to accept the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award. To be chosen as this year’s recipient, among so many great business women in Ireland, makes me very proud indeed. it is a fantastichonour to be commended as a business woman dfor my work in this area and I feel that now, more than ever, it is essential to recognise the important role that women play in various different busineses, both at home and abroad.”

Throughout her professional career, which has spanned over 60 years, Anna May has shown great entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, as well as displaying leadership, vision, courage and charisma and was unanimously chosen by this year’s judging panel. “Anna May is a fantastic role model and the National Ploughing Championships is a very succesful event and such an important element of Irish culture,” said Caoline Sleiman of Veuve Clicquot.

Anna May will now become a brand ambassador for Veuve Clicquot in Ireland.
