Second robbery in a week at Newbridge store

A knife was used in the Newbridge raid

A Newbridge shop was held up for the second time in a week last Satruday.

A staff member of Roseberry Stores in Newbridge was threatened at knife point for cash by a man wearing a balaclava on Saturday, February 4 at 5pm, writes Paula Campbell.

The incident came just a week after they were held up on Friday January 27 at 6.05pm. Gardai suspect the perpetrator was the same man in both raids.

The man entered the store, produced a knife and demanded that the staff member hand over a quantity of cash before running out of the store. He was described at being 6ft with a strong Dublin accent, freckles and dark clothing while his balaclava was described as plastic in appearance like a ‘swimming cap’.

“We believe it could be the same guy,” said Sgt Rothwell. “It is the second time in one week but he got away with less than the previous week.”
