A new tourism campaign has been launched by Kildare Failte with Ray D’Arcy as the face of Kildare. Last Tuesday, January 31 Ray was appointed as “Tourism Ambassador” for his home county at a special event at the Round Tower in Kildare town.
Ray, who hails from the town, will be assuming the role with immediate effect. His duties will include performing the voice over for a local and national radio campaign, as well as a series of personal appearances, designed to promote the county. He will be key to the implementation of the newly devised Marketing programme created by County Kildare Fáilte.
Ray’s visit coincided with the annual Feile Bhride Festival being held in the town and organised by the Brigidine Sisters. He was joined by pupils from the local national schools – Scoil Na Mainstreach De la Salle and Scoil Bhride Naofa.
“We are delighted to announce that Ray Darcy is our County Ambassador. Ray who hails from Kildare has always demonstrated his loyalty and support for the county.
He is a household name and has earned national respect and admiration. Indeed Ray represents all that is great about the County of Kildare. We are very proud of his achievements to date and look forward to working with him to create a new era for Kildare Tourism,” said Tony Jones, Chairperson of County Kildare Fáilte.
