Punchestown rescheduled race details announced

PUNCHESTOWN racecourse have rescheduled selected feature races for days four (Friday 27th) and five (Saturday 28th) of the Punchestown Festival. The ‘3’ Pat Taaffe Handicap Steeplechase and Diageo Punchestown Charity Sweepstakes have been cancelled on Saturday leaving a six race card starting at 2.30 pm.

The Grade 1 Ryanair Novice Chase will now be the first of five races on Friday’s card. Seven runners are declared and will go to post at 4.55. The feature race of the day the Rabobank Champion Hurdle will take place at 5.30 with the Cathal Ryan Memorial Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) taking place at 6.05. The Star Best For Racing Coverage Novice Hurdle will run at 6.40 and the ITBA Fillies Scheme Premier Bumper will conclude the card at 7.10.

Saturdays feature race the AES Champion Four Year Old Hurdle is now joined by thetote.com Punchestown Gold Cup. The Irish Field Chase will kick off proceedings at 2.30 followed by thetote.com Punchestown Gold Cup at 3.10, The Guinness H’cap Chase is at 3.45 and the ITBA Fillies Scheme Bumper at 4.25. The feature race of the day the AES Champion Four Year Old Hurdle goes to post at 5pm and the Setantabet.com Handicap Hurdle concludes the day at 5.35pm.

4.55 – Ryanair Novice Steeplechase (Grade 1) 2 miles €100,000

5.30 – Rabobank Champion Hurdle (Grade 1) 2 miles €160,000

6.05 – Cathal Ryan memorial Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) 2 miles 4 furlongs €80,000

6.40 – Star Best For Racing Coverage Novice Hurdle 2 miles €22,500

7.10 – ITBA Fillies Scheme Premier Bumper €60,000

Saturday 28th April – Day 5 of the Punchestown Festival

2.30 - The Irish Field Steeplechase 3 miles €10,000.00

3.10 – thetote.com Punchestown Gold Cup (Grade 1) 3 miles 1 furlong €140,000

3.45 – Guinness Handicap Steeplechase of €80,000 (Grade A) 2 miles 4 furlongs €80,000

4.25 – ITBA Fillies Scheme EBF (Mares) Hurdle (Grade 3) 2 miles 2 furlongs €60,000

5.00 – The AES Champion Four Year Old Hurdle (Grade 1) 2 miles €80,000

5.35 – The Setantabet.com Hurdle (Handicap) 2 miles 4 furlongs (Grade B) €80,000

The following races have been lost to weather at this year’s Punchestown Festival, however it is hoped that all cancelled races will be run on an alternative date. Further updates will be made available post festival:

The Colman Tunnelling Ireland, UK and Africa Steeplechase of €25,000 2 miles

Friday 27th –

The KFM Hunters Steeplechase for the Bishopscourt cup of €9,000 (Bush Fence Course) 2 miles 4 furlongs

The Breakfast with Hector on 2fm Handicap Chase of €25,000 3 miles 6 furlongs

The AON Novice Handicap Steeplechase of €75,000 2 miles 5 furlongs

The Irish Racing Post Champion Hunters Steeplechase €22,000 3 miles 1 furlong

Saturday 28th –

The Madra Irish Dog Foods Novice Steeplechase of €17,500 2 miles 2 furlongs

The ‘3’ Pat Taaffe Handicap Steeplechase of €45,000 (Grade B) 3 miles 1 furlongs

The O’Reilly Recruitment (Pro Am) INH Flat Race of €9,000 2 miles 1 furlong
