Pupils from 2nd to 6th class, gather for the COW WOW day last Wednesday

IT may have been a COW WOW day at Patrician Primary school last Wednesdaby but there was neither a not a Heifer or a Friesian insight.

Instead there were plenty of bicycles as the Patrician Primary School Newbridge organised the COW WOW day - Cycle On Wednesday, Walk On Wednesday - to get the students moving.

Continuing on from their recent 4th Green Flag achievement as part of their Green- Schools programme, children are encouraged to WOW/COW as part of a healthy lifestyle whilst helping alleviate local traffic congestion thus in turn reducing carbon emissions.

Pupils from 2nd to 6th class, parents and even teachers met at various locations throughout the town, left their cars behind and walked or cycled the journey safely to school.

Thanks to a little late unplanned September sunshine and lots of enthusiastic students, it proved a great success.

“A huge thanks to all who helped and participated on the day with a special mention to Jackie from “The Gables” for allowing us to congregate in the car park,” said school spokesperson Susan Farrell.
