Electricity pylons that could be used in the Grid Link project.

AN open day to address queries about the planned route of the a corridor of pylons carrying electricity cables through part of County Kildare takes place at Killashee House Hotel, Naas, on Thursday (May 10) between 1pm and 8pm, writes Paul O’Meara.

The meeting is organised by EirGrid, the Irish State-owned company responsible for operating and developing the electricity transmission grid, which will provide electricity for business and homes into the future.

The company is investing €500m in the Grid Link Project – a new high power voltage line linking Leinster and Munster.

The idea behind the meetings is to consult the public about the precise route of the project.

The new line will link stations in Cork with Dunstown, near Brannockstown, Naas.
