New archaeology resources to be launched

Two new and unique archaeological resources for County Kildare will be launched by the county's mayor Cllr Colm Purcell next Tuesday November 17.

The County Kildare Archaeological Society Journal Vols. I-XIX (1891-2007) on DVD and the Directory of Archaeological Sources Relating to County Kildare are both publications unique to Kildare.

The launch will begin at 8 pm in The Council Chamber in ras Chill Dara, Naas and is open to the public.

The Kildare Archeology Society since 1891 has produced a yearly journal with articles relating to the history of County Kildare and surrounding areas. They have compiled these journals and brought them into the 21st Century issuing them on DVD.

Users can search a complete archive in the click of a mouse and makes this primary resource more accessible.

The Directory of Archaeological Sources Relating to County Kildare, compiled by Jason Bolton, gives a comprehensive and up to date list of all archaeological resources relating to Kildare. It contains beautiful illustrations and would certainly be a welcome addition to any collection.

The Directory is free and the DVD will be offered at a special introductory price on the night. Copies of both resources will also be sent out to the libraries and schools within Co. Kildare.
