Boxing pundit Kenneth Egan’s infamous stonewashed denim jacket has a new home in Naas.

The jacket he wore during his stint on the RTE boxing commentary panel was one of the style talking points of the Olympics. Egan decided to auction the jacket in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital, and it was snapped up by Foley’s Antiques, in Tougher’s Business Park, for E5,000.

Store owner Derek Carruthers is a supporter of the hospital.

Egan himself will hand over the jacket in Foley’s at 3pm today, Tuesday. RTE’s Derek Mooney radio show will be there for an outside broadcast and all are welcome.

The jacket has been signed by all the boxers on the triumphant Olympic team. It will go on display in Foley’s showrooms.

“People can come in and see it and have their photos taken with it,” said Alan Redmond, general manager of Foley’s.
