The death of 27-year-old Keith McMahon who died in the car crash on the Naas to Newbridge road on Sunday was the second tragedy to hit his family.

The McMahons of Crettyard, Co. Laois, have already lost another son in a motorbike accident.

In August 2009, while taking part in a charity motorbike rally in memory of a friend in County Wicklow, Keith’s brother Brian was a passenger on a bike which clipped a car.

He was very badly injured and died seven weeks later.

Local county councillor, Ben Brennan, said the small community of Crettyard were once again shocked at another sudden death of a young person.

“It’s very hard to accept, this is the third death of a young person in the last few years. The whole community is in shock to see another young person going to the graveyard.”
