“Some character, we went to school together, did our Leaving Cert together. He was a fine footballer, and it came as no surprise when he joined the ‘fourth estate’ having shown a tremendous flair for writing in his early school days.

“A renaissance man of the 21st century; widely read, witty and charming. One of the finest human beings I have ever known, his death diminished all of us; an outstanding sportsman he was the backbone of the Naas CBS U17 team and a very accomplished golfer in his youth.

“He will indeed be sadly missed.”
