The King of Pop is set to make a return to Newbridge.

Or, at least, his famous, flamboyant stage clothes are.

An exhibition of some of Michael Jackson’s stage costumes - and his nearly as outlandish personal clothing - will take place at Newbridge Silverware’s Museum of Style Icons next month.

The free display will feature pieces designed by Jackson’s costumier Michael Bush, who will visit the museum for the exhibition opening.

Mr Bush worked with Jackson for 25 years, and has also worked with Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor and Celine Dion. He is responsible for many aspects of Jackson’s iconic look from the Bad, Thriller and Dangerous era, and had worked on the costumes for the This Is It tour. He has also just finished a book called ‘Dressing Michael Jackson’.

The exhibition has been soured from Californian auction house Juliens Auctions, which is known for handling the sale of Hollywood memorabilia.

The items in this ‘Icons and Idols’ tour will tour South America and Asia before being sold by auction in December.

The Newbridge exhibition will be the only place it appears in Europe.

Items on display will cindlude a helmet which was designed for the 30th Anniversary of Madison Square Gardens show; a Scream costume video; Jackson’s Captain EO white Spandex Shirt; a crystal glove, a Bad Tour suit, the leather jacket seen on the Dangerous workd tour programme and the black jacket worn for Jackson’s 1993 Superbowl performance, among other items.

The Newbridge museum, which houses Hollywood stage and screen memorabilia, hosted previous Jackson collections in 2009, and some of his furniture in 2010.
