A man alleged to have contravened a protection order appeared at Naas District Court.

Hassan Umoro was prosecuted for contravening the order at Castlefin, Sallins, on May 29 last

A protection order was granted on October 24 and it was alleged he approached his 12 year old daughter, who ran, and threatened to hurt her if she did not do what he wanted.

It was claimed she ran to a neighbour’s house and he drove after her and banged on the door.

It was also alleged that the threatening text messages were sent and Mr. Umoro received texts as well.

The defendant who is unemployed and on social welfare was upset and emotional over the issue.

Defending solicitor Mr. Coonan said it is a family law issue with a great deal of animosity.

“I told him if he is going to have an access to his children aged 12 and 2, he will have to abide by court directions, added Mr. Coonan.

Mr. Umoro, who currently lives in Navan, was told to keep away from Castlefin and Sallins national school and to have no contact with his family.

The case was adjourned to July 6 in Kilcock Court.
