Major drugs haul in Kildare and Dublin

THE largest single inland seizure of cocaine in the country occurred today (Tuesday, June 26) following searches in Kildare and Dublin.

Following a joint operation involving Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs Unit, approximately 350kg of cocaine with an estimated value of €28m has been seized.

Approximately 50 kg of cocaine was seized in the Tallaght area. A vehicle was also seized.

In follow up searches in Dublin and Kildare, a further substantial quantity of cocaine, currently believed to be in excess of 300 kg, was seized.

This seizure represents the largest single inland seizure of cocaine in this country.

Enquiries are ongoing internationally as to the origins and destination of the cocaine.

Two men, 42 and 31, are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
