Kildare TD’s claimed €260k expenses in 2011
Kildare-based TD’s have earned a total of €260,316.74 on top of the €90,000 each that they all earn.
That’s an average of €37,188 each, which is more than the average industrial wage.
In the North Kildare consituency, Deputies Emmett Stagg and Bernard Durkan both got €36,434.87 each, while Catherine Murphy earned €21,722.65 and Anthony Lawlor got €45,478.95.
In the southern constituency, Sean O’Fearghaill claimed €36,434.87, Jack Wall got €38,331.58 and Martin Heydon got €45,478.95.
The maximum amount a TD can claim can be affected by whether they vouch (provide receipts) for their expenses or not.
In Kildare Emmet Stagg, Bernard Durkan, Sean O’Fearghaill and Jack Wall did not vouch for expences, while the others did.
Vouching for expences doesn’t necessarily mean a TD will receive less or more – it could go either way.
Distance from the Dail has an affect on the among TD’s will get. For that reason, the Kildare-based TD’s are very much average in terms of their expense claims.
